Presently we have a small herd of alpacas and plan on building their numbers to that which the land can easily sustain. Thankfully these animals are very low maintenance and definately live alongside chickens very well.

So far I have made a few doonas with their fleece from last year's shearing and look forward to testing it out this winter. Apparently their fleece is non-allergenic but not sure how accurate that is but I do know alpaca fibres are highly fire resistant and have less likelihood of over heating compared with wool and feather filled doonas. I have tested out the latter!

Doctors are concerned about over heating infants with doonas so I'm hoping 100% alpaca quilts with a cotton covering will prove to be all they're proported to be - non-allergenic and breathable.

Prices have not yet been worked out but I think it will be in the vicinity of 160 dollars for children's doonas and 300 dollars for adult for a double 2100 by 2100mm and 2.5 kilo weight. If you are interested please make contact.
